Postponement hearing concrete block thrower

SPAUBEEK - The trial of a 23-year-old man from Schinnen, suspected of throwing a concrete block from an overpass on the A76, has been postponed. The hearing was originally scheduled to take place yesterday, but according to a spokesman for the Public Prosecutor's Office (OM)additional technical research is still needed to complete the case. Only then, according to him, can the case be dealt with substantively. The facts date back to February 5, 2011. Early in the morning, a motorist from Vlaardingen arrived and at that moment a block of concrete was thrown from the viaduct.

The man from Schinnen is also suspected of having stolen a (different) concrete block on February 13, 2011 in Spaubeek and driving with it, under the influence of alcohol and without a valid driver's license, to a freeway viaduct. On that Feb. 13, the man was also arrested by police for the first time. When the investigations will be finished and the man will have to stand trial is not known at this time.
