Suspected investor now charged with embezzlement in Susteren

SUSTEREN/LANDGRAAF - Eric van den B., the former operator of hotel-restaurant Overste Hof in Landgraaf suspected of fraud, is now also accused of embezzling with a partner more than 30,000 euros from printing company Profiprint in Susteren. Profiprint went bankrupt on January 6, 2009. According to the trustee in bankruptcy, who looks after the interests of the creditors, Van den B.'s then partner had only bought the printing company in September 2008 for one euro. She was the boss of the small printing company on paper, but in reality Van den B. was in charge, says the trustee.
Both of them barely interfered with the business operations, he contends. According to the trustee, they did "plunder the company in the short time they were at Profiprint." They embezzled more than 30,000 euros. Van den B. and his partner also mismanaged the company, the trustee ruled. He held the director liable for the debts of Profiprint, which, incidentally, was able to restart quickly as a result of the takeover by another party. Van den B.'s lawyer SergeWeening is not aware of the trustee's accusation. He also reported the embezzlement he had detected to the Fiod investigation service in early 2009. This has been conducting a fraud investigation intoVan den B.Former investor Van den B. operated hotel-restaurant Overste Hof in Landgraaf until early 2006, but went bankrupt. The trustee in his bankruptcies, Pieter Scholtes, suspects that Van den B. siphoned off tons to a bv over which he had control, so that that money did not benefit the creditors. The supervisory judge in these bankruptcies filed charges against Van den B. It is unclear what the status of the investigation is.
