Cell sentences up to two years for involvement in drug lab in Velden (Limburger.nl)

Three men were sentenced to prison terms by the court in Roermond for involvement in a drug lab in Velden-Schandelo. Three others were acquitted.

One of the executors, Willem F. (50) from Sittard, received the highest sentence with a 24-month prison term. Six months of that were suspended. The owner of the shed where the laboratory was found, Paul van de V. (48), received a prison sentence of 18 months. Six months of that are suspended. According to the court, he provided the space and opportunity to set up and run the laboratory. A 46-year-old man from Beek received a one-year prison sentence for assisting in the preparation of a raw material for amphetamine in late November 2017.

The prison sentences imposed are lower than the Public Prosecutor's Office (OM) demanded two weeks ago. The prosecution had asked for a minimum of 3.5 years in prison against three alleged ringleaders.

Exonerated

Three other defendants were acquitted by the court. One of the convicts had made incriminating statements about them, which the court said were consistent. Because the statements were not supported by other evidence, the three were not convicted. However, one of the three, a 28-year-old man from Sittard, must serve 100 days in jail for possession of a pistol, ammunition and seven pills of amphetamine.
