Press release regarding appeal Thijs H.
The Hague and Maastricht, Aug. 13, 2020
Appeal
Thijs H. was wrongly convicted of murder. Moreover, the court erred in partly charging Thijs with his actions. The Pieter Baan Center concluded after extensive and careful investigation that he acted entirely under the influence of a severe psychosis. Thijs H. was completely insane. He will appeal.
Defense by Serge Weening and Job Knoester
During the court proceedings, Thijs was defended by criminal lawyers Serge Weening and Joost de Bruin. The latter is leaving the legal profession. Joost de Bruin will become public prosecutor. On appeal, Thijs is represented by criminal lawyers Serge Weening and Job Knoester. They believe that the verdict of the court does not do justice to the circumstances under which Thijs came to his actions. The criminal lawyers believe that the court has misinterpreted facts and look forward to the appeal with great confidence.
