Kerkrade - A 35-year-old Heerlen man was arrested on suspicion of setting fire to a caravan in Kerkrade on the night of Thursday to Friday.

A police spokesman confirmed this. The first reports of the incident on Josephinastraat came in around a quarter past four. The emergency services arrived at the scene, after which the fire department quickly got the fire under control. This prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding homes on the street. Nevertheless, the caravan burned out completely.
