Homeless man allegedly killed

VUGHT - The police have arrested a homeless man (46) suspected of having assaulted Vught vagrant Rien Coppens (59) to such an extent that he died. This happened at the end of July last year. The suspect was apprehended in Gerldermalsen. The police had had their eye on the man for some time, but until now he was without a trace. Only when the suspect committed a criminal offense in Geldermalsen could he be apprehended.

Son Alex Coppers is appalled by the arrest: "I'm still shaking all over," he told me yesterday afternoon. Coppers has high hopes for a good outcome to the case. "Although a police officer told me not to expect too much yet."

Coppers was found dead in a barn at a Vughts demolition site last summer. His body showed signs of aggravated assault.
