LEEUWARDEN - 38-year-old D.W., previously convicted of the so-called trunk and sewer murder in October 2008, wants to explain something about the crime for the first time.

This emerged Monday at the court of appeal in Leeuwarden, where the appeal in the case is being heard. W. was sentenced at the court to 30 years in prison for the manslaughter of Amsterdam resident Brian Stein and the murder of René Karamatali from Almere. Co-suspect D.J was given 18 years in prison by the court for these crimes.
