Father confesses to killing own baby son

Jaydon will be cremated today in Landgraaf.

LANDGRAAF - Rob, 36, of Landgraaf, Limburg, has confessed to killing his 10-week-old son last week. His 21-year-old girlfriend, the mother of baby Jaydon, is no longer a suspect in the case and has been released. The tragedy played out in the couple's home. The mother had given Jaydon a bottle of milk, but the baby indicated that he was still hungry. The mother thereupon went to take a shower, whereupon the father still topped the child and took him to his crib. At that crib, father Roch then violently assaulted his infant son.

"What exactly happened, I'm not going to say. That's too crude right now," said attorney Weenink of the father. What is clear is that the father had been drinking at the time of the crime. He put his infant son in his crib after the violence. The next morning he found Jaydon dead in the crib. The alerted family doctor did not trust it and called the police. Jaydon was found to have died of brain damage and visible violence had been used toward the baby.

Initially, both father and mother were suspects in the case. Justice had already determined from interrogations that it was virtually certain that Rob was responsible for the child's death. When both partners were questioned together and at the same time, the man confessed fully.

Today Jaydon will be cremated in Landgraaf. The father will not be there, possibly because the justice system does not give permission for it. Moreover, Jaydon's mother has already expressed her intention to break off the relationship and his presence at the cremation would cause great tension. Jaydon's mother is back at home with relatives, but according to her lawyer is "very badly affected. Van Oppen: "You can imagine that. When I first visited her in the cell, she was sitting in a corner staring at a picture of her child. It was a pathetic heap of human beings."

The family was not under the supervision of youth services. On Gate Street where they live, they were well known.
