For investigators, the violence on Carnival Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, prompted them to look again at that "old" assault. The main suspect in the Loontjens case, Stephan P., was also allegedly involved. Earlier, the police could not get a grip on this case because witnesses remained silent for fear of the perpetrator group.
The prosecution wanted both cases heard simultaneously, but the court decided to hear them separately, one after the other.
It is not yet known when the suspects in the June assault are due to appear last June.
