MAASTRICHT - A second suspect in the criminal investigation into the Valkenburg teen prostitution scandal committed suicide last week.
This was confirmed by the public prosecutor's office in Maastricht. The man had already been questioned by the police. Immediately after this second suicide among the more than fifty men suspected of having had sex with a 16-year-old girl, the justice department says it intensified psychological counseling for the men.
In early February, one of the suspects also ended his life.
Police tracked down dozens of men who may have had sex with the underage girl after a raid on a hotel in Valkenburg. Officers found used condoms in the hotel and a customer list on the cell phone of the arrested 21-year-old Armin A., who is suspected of being the loverboy.
