A 16-year-old girl from Heesch was detained in Belgium for two months this summer and during that time married under Islamic law. The man she allegedly married also kidnapped her. This reports the Brabants Dagblad.
The newspaper further states that the suspect, a 38-year-old American, allegedly prepared the girl to leave for Syria. Mr. Verbeek, his lawyer, said his client denies everything he has been charged with.
