The mother, father and sister of Sven Prins, who was liquidated in 2015, together want 57,000 euros in affection damages from the killers of their son and brother.
Each family member must apply for the compensation separately. The parents claim 20,000 euros each, the sister 17,500 euros.

Affection damage

In doing so, the Prince family is anticipating a settlement that is still pending. Relatives of victims who have died or suffered serious injuries cannot now formally appeal for affection damage. The House of Representatives has already passed the bill on affection damage. It is now before the Senate. Lawyers Floor Oehlen and Phil Boonen announced the affection claim during the handling of the liquidation case anyway. They hope that the new form of compensation will be legally regulated before the verdict in the murder case is final. Cell sentences

The prosecution is likely to seek very long prison sentences against the three suspects by the end of this week. For their part, the suspects deny their role in the murder. By all appearances, they will not resign themselves to a conviction in Maastricht. According to the lawyers, the judges are free to anticipate new legislation.
