One suspect was neighbor boy of slain Finch

BRUNSSUM - One of the four young Brunssumers arrested on suspicion of involvement in the death of their 77-year-old fellow townsman Arnol Vink turns out to be a neighborhood boy of the victim. It is the 17-year-old boy who was arrested last Friday. He lives only a few doors away from Vink.According to his lawyer S. Weening, this boy denies any involvement in both the burglaries of the Brunssum elderly man's home and the man's death. The detention of this boy and his 15-year-old co-accused was extended by three days yesterday. Counselor S. van Berge Henegouwen of the 15-year-old only wants to say that the examining magistrate, who had to judge whether his client is rightly detained, had to think about this for a very long time in any case. Within three days these two suspects must be released or the prosecutor must demand their detention for 10 days.

The two other suspects, aged 17 and 22, were arrested Sunday night. They too are in custody. Whether that is lawful, the examining magistrate must consider within three days. The four suspects are in restrictions, which means that - except with their lawyer - they are not allowed to have contact with the outside world.

The prosecution suspects the foursome of breaking into Arnold Vink's home on De Ruyterstraat in the Brunssum neighborhood of Egge on March 5. The man himself reported the burglary. His body was found in his home on March 10 by a housekeeper. Justice suspects that the same four boys returned to the home before March 10 and killed the resident then. In what manner the elderly man was killed, justice will not say.
