DEN BOSCH - An argument in café 't Bossche Huukske on the Graafweg in Den Bosch on Saturday night saw Bosschenaar Leon Marcé 31 shot dead. The victim himself was convicted several years ago for the murder of Hans ('Puk') Verspreek, in January 1999. Both were shot dead in the same cafe. Marcé received seven years for this. Marcé was shot several times just after 1 a.m. after, according to police, a scuffle first broke out. The victim died at the scene. Various sources confirm to the Brabants Dagblad that the suspected perpetrator is a 33-year-old man from Bosschenaar. Around noon, an arrest team in the Graafsewijk made an unsuccessful attempt to apprehend the perpetrator. Police are not saying anything about the identity of the suspected perpetrator.
Marcé and he had been at great odds since the Verspeek murder case. The reason was that Marcé initially accused him of involvement in Verspeek's murder. According to this man from Bosschen, this was unjustified. The court nevertheless sentenced him to six years for his part in Verspeek's murder. On appeal, he was acquitted.
The feud between the two people from Bosschen escalated in August 2002. After an argument in a café in Rosmalen, they ran into each other on the Dagraadseweg in Den Bosch. Marcé was shot in front of his parental home, where he was living at the time. The 33-year-old from Bosschenaar later received four years for that. Saturday he would have been on probation from this sentence.
The investigation into Marcé's murder was taken up by a team of fifteen detectives. They focused on interviewing the estimated fifteen visitors who were in the café at the time of the crime. The technical investigation team investigated the crime scene until early Sunday morning. A blood trail on the street indicates that the suspect himself was also injured and that he fled via Dennenstraat.
