Montfort suspect released again (Limburger)
MONTFORT - The woman arrested Thursday for involvement in the death of 67-year-old Thei Suskens of Montfort was released yesterday after being questioned by the judge in Roermond.
This was confirmed by a spokeswoman for the court in Roermond and by the detained woman's counsel Hiltje van der Ende. "The claim for detention has been rejected because there are insufficient serious objections," a court spokeswoman informed. According to Hiltje van der Ende, her client is happy with the release. "There is no link between what happened in Montfort and my client," van der Ende said. Forensic investigators spent all day yesterday at Suskens' residence conducting trace evidence. The remains were not removed from the house until the afternoon. Detectives questioned residents door to door on Juliana Street.
67-year-old Thei Suskens, who was found dead in his home on Julianastraat Thursday afternoon, was seen alive during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, according to street residents. "After midnight I saw a car with a woman and a man in it driving back and forth in front of his house," says one resident. "They wanted to enter Thei's house, but the latter did not let them. Only after an hour of fussing and bothering did he let first the woman inside and then the man. Then it was ten to two."
Police would not confirm whether Suskens had any visitors that night. The victim, a truck driver who was eventually rejected, had been a widower for several years, according to several residents on the street. "After that it went downhill with him," says one resident. Another neighborhood resident says he saw a car with a foreign license plate in front of Suskens' door Wednesday afternoon.
According to several residents, fights would have taken place regularly at the victim's residence. The police would not say anything about this or about the car with the foreign license plate. How the Montfort resident died, police will not say.
An autopsy will have to reveal that, according to police.
