HEERLEN - A shooting in Heerlen Sunday evening may have injured several people. Several of the injured reported to the hospital for treatment shortly afterward. "It appears that they were involved in the shooting," a police spokeswoman said. Nothing is yet known about the nature of the injuries.
The shooting occurred around 6:45 p.m. in Vrieheide Park. When the alerted police arrived at the park, no wounded person could be found there. However, officers did find traces of a shooting in the park. The area was cordoned off for further investigation. Police also cordoned off part of the hospital grounds. This was to find out if and to what extent the wounded were involved in the shooting.
