Police intervened in the Maastricht neighborhood of Wittevrouwenveld because of a situation involving a confused man who may have wanted to take his own life.
That man was holed up near the gas station near the Geusselt, in a home on the corner of Dr. Schaepmanstraat and Burgemeester van Oppenstraat.
Arrest Team
An arrest team that had been called came into action around 1:45 p.m. Police were alerted to the situation around 12:20 a.m., after which the area was immediately cordoned off. Many officers were called to secure the area.
Police announced on Twitter that the man was detained. The street has since been released again.
