Police detained a 20-year-old man from Maastricht Sunday evening after a wild chase.
The man allegedly assaulted someone. After the assault, the man took off in a car from the Grote Gracht. While driving away, he hit another car.
Officers went to the scene after the incident was reported. The motorist ignored a stop sign and fled the scene. In doing so, he damaged three vehicles on Conde Street.
In the process, the fleeing man's car was damaged to the extent that he could not continue. Officers were able to arrest the man. The Maastricht man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. His driver's license was confiscated.
