Elst arson suspect released on conditions
On December 7, 2016, the case against client Bas G. was heard by the Gelderland District Court in Arnhem. Our client, assisted by Mr. A.L. Rinsma, is suspected of having been involved in seven arsons in the first half of 2016 in the vicinity of Elst. Client has testified to the police about his role regarding these arsons. He also confirmed his earlier statement at the hearing.
Unfortunately, the case was not taken forward because a report has yet to be made with regard to the co-accused. Because client has now spent over 6 months in pre-trial detention, a request was made by the defense to release him conditionally. The Court has granted this request and determined that client will be released conditionally effective December 16. A further hearing of the case is planned for late February 2017.
