KERKRADE - The Limburg criminal police have arrested a 54-year-old Romanian suspected of firing at a car in Kerkrade several times last October. This Ioan S. is being held on suspicion of attempted manslaughter. This is confirmed by his lawyer Sanne Koumans.
On October 17 around 10:30 in the evening, a car was shot at several times on the Meuserstraat in Kerkrade. In the process, the window of the vehicle was punctured. The three occupants of the car fled in panic. The police were quickly on the scene and sealed off part of Meuserstraat. One of the occupants was stopped, but would not reveal anything about what had happened.

Later in the night, around 1:30 a.m., an arrest team raided a residence on that same Meuser Street, near where the earlier shooting had taken place. This occurred after a tip came in that one the fugitives involved would be present in the residence. Members of the AT first shattered a window of a room on the first floor and threw a smoke bomb inside.

Then the property was entered. However, no one was found at that time. Ioan S. would have been the shooter in question, according to the declarant. He remains silent for now during questioning by the criminal investigation department.
