Limburger suspected of attempted murder (Telegraph.co.uk)
MAASTRICHT - René M., who startled Hoensbroek last November by shooting around at random and then pouring himself with a caustic substance, has been transferred to the Pieter Baan Center (PBC) for psychological examination. He is suspected of multiple attempted murder. His lawyer Serge Weening confirmed this to De Telegraaf.
A confused M. held his grip for several hours on Nov. 19. He shot wildly around himself, with bullets hitting adjacent homes. Neighbors at the time spoke of Wild West scenes and thought they were "living in an action movie. He eventually doused himself with a caustic substance and surrendered.
Nearby residents had to be evacuated in the evening because hazardous materials were suspected. M. finally surrendered after mediation by a police negotiator. He has been detained for quite some time. In the PBC, according to sources around the investigation, they are looking into whether he was in psychosis at the time of his act.
René M. has not yet made a substantive statement to the investigators. The investigation in this case is ongoing.
