Hub L. extradition after attorney defaults (Limburger)
SITTARD - Sittarden murder suspect Hub L. had no chance to oppose extradition from Spain to the Netherlands due to the guilt of his Spanish counsel. So says L.'s lawyer Serge Weening. The prosecution accuses L. of murdering Iraqi Mouhammed Al Jader last year and dissolving his corpse in hydrochloric acid. He managed to evade arrest by fleeing to Spain, but was apprehended there in June. L. wanted to contest his extradition.Argument should have been that Spain does not extradite people sentenced to life in prison, Weening said. "However, the Spanish lawyer who was supposed to assist him did not file proceedings against the extradition for financial reasons - she feared not to make any more money from this case."
