Three members of the Sittard family L. were again sentenced on appeal Thursday to 15 years in prison for their role in the alleged hydrochloric acid murders of Alan Gregeri (24) and Mohammed al Jader (24).

The case revolves around the murder of the two Iraqis who disappeared in 2009 and 2011. The two were found to have been killed and their bodies dissolved in barrels full of hydrochloric acid. The remains were flushed down the drain.

No change

The sentencing requirements are the same as three years ago. However, then the court reopened the case because more investigation was needed. According to the prosecution, mother Els and father Hub L. both deserve 15 years in prison. Daughter Rachelle should receive 12 months, four of which are suspended.

Confession

Mother Els (63) was sentenced in court to 15 years for confessing to shooting Al Jader in the German border town of Tüddern in 2011.

Credulity

Father Hub (63) and daughter Rachelle (25) were acquitted in 2013 because the court found the significant testimony of family friend and co-defendant Ron van K. implausible. Van K. said Hub fired the last shot to kill Al Jader and that Rachelle would have used a taser. In the additional investigation, this statement was found credible by legal psychologist Peter van Koppen.

Taser

Justice believes Hub and Els committed the murder together. Rachelle was charged with 12 months, including four suspended, for the assault with the taser.

Convictions

Son Michel L. and the now deceased Van K. were sentenced to 26 and 30 months for actually disposing of the bodies. Son Maurice L. was given 13 years in prison by the court for murdering Gregeri. There was no appeal in those three cases.

The verdict is Jan. 30.
