Rotterdam/Sittard - For driving 27-year-old Gabriele Barbini to death, Mateusz Z. (28) from Geleen is facing an eight-year prison sentence. Against his (former) girlfriend Geena B. (22), community service was demanded on Thursday. The case against the Pole from Geleen and his former partner from Sittard was special for several reasons. Obviously because of the ferocity of what happened - Mateusz Z. drove Barbini to his death on September 1, 2024, while not having a driver's license, under the influence of alcohol and cocaine and speeding way too fast - but also because of the suspicions. The 20-year-old from Geleen is suspected of manslaughter, his then-girlfriend of complicity.
