Police used several police cars Sunday evening to chase a car with a trailer through Brunssum and Heerlen.
Around 11 p.m., police received a report of a stolen trailer. The thing had been taken uninvited from the Jeugdrubbenweg in Hoensbroek.
Pursuit
Shortly thereafter, officers saw a car driving in Brunssum with the stolen trailer. The driver did not respond to a stop sign, after which police began the pursuit.
Ambulance
Several police cars were involved in the pursuit. On the Italiëlaan in Heerlen, the driver lost control of his car and came to a stop against a parked van. The 40-year-old driver was injured in the collision. He was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
A passenger managed to jump out of the car during the chase and escape.
Witness call
Response to a Facebook message from 112 Alarmeringen Parkstad shows that many people saw the pursuit. Police are calling on witnesses to come forward. They are asked to forward any footage of the pursuit. Also fellow road users who had to swerve because of the pursuit are requested to report themselves.
