The Gelderland Court has over 160 judges. Together with approximately 600 employees, they handle about 175,000 legal cases each year. They do this expertly and adequately, with consideration for the interests of individual litigants. The court has 4 locations: Apeldoorn, Arnhem, Nijmegen, and Zutphen. The ‘case distribution regulations’ (officielebekendmakingen.nl) specify which cases are handled at which location.
With digital courtrooms at three locations, the court is prepared for the future. The Judiciary is modernizing, and digital proceedings are becoming the norm. In this process, the Gelderland Court aims to be a vital organization, with ongoing attention to both its own employees and litigants.
Our advice / tip
Never make a statement to anyone from the police before consulting with a lawyer: not as a suspect and not as a witness either. This also applies when the police officer is not sitting at a computer. The police may write down everything you say, even when you’re not in an official interrogation situation.
