The Penitentiary Institution (PI) Achterhoek, also known as Ooyerhoek, is located in Zutphen. PI Achterhoek has space for 204 detainees and serves as both a prison and a House of Detention. The facility also has an EZV and ISD department. EZV stands for Extra Care Facility. This department houses detainees who cannot function in a regular department because they need extra care and guidance. ISD stands for Institution for Habitual Offenders. These are so-called repeat offenders who have been sentenced by the court to an ISD measure for a maximum of two years.
