It is a modern prison with ten standard units. Each standard unit consists of a corridor with cells on both sides. One of these units is an extra care facility. In addition, Zuyder Bos also has the Amerswiel unit. This unit was built in 2000 and has an open setting (limited security and very limited security). It consists of eleven \u201chouses\u201d, which are set up in the form of terraced houses.      <\/p>\n\n<p>Only male inmates reside within PI Heerhugowaard.
