PI Ter Apel has a capacity for 434 detainees and is a VRIS facility. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VRIS stands for foreigners in criminal law. The individuals detained in Ter Apel have committed a criminal offense. They have been convicted by a judge and are staying illegally in the Netherlands (or have been declared undesirable after their crime).
