On January 1, 2013, the Central Netherlands Court was formed from the former courts of Utrecht and Zwolle-Lelystad (Lelystad location). It has jurisdiction to administer justice in the first instance within its district. This means that the court is the first instance to give a legal judgment on a case or conflict. After that, a party to the proceedings (for example, the convicted person or the Public Prosecution Service (om.nl)) can appeal to the Arnhem-Leeuwarden Court of Appeal. At the Central Netherlands Court, approximately 175 judges and 580 other employees work in permanent positions. <\/p>\n\t\t
